BAA is to close Terminal 2, Heathrow's oldest terminal, opened in 1955, when its fifth terminal is finished in 2008.
It is being closed because, with the opening of the new terminal, passenger numbers for the building are predicted to fall from nine million to fewer than 1.5 million as airlines relocate. The decision will not apparently affect proposals to spend up to GBP 1.5 billion on a new terminal at Heathrow in time for the 2012 Olympics.See the full content of this document
