"TAX doesn't have to be taxing," according to the Inland Revenue. But the former Matalan boss Angus Monro was left severely vexed by it yesterday when he was told he would not be getting back the GBP 846,000 he overpaid the taxman.
Chancellor Sir Andrew Morritt ruled at the High Court in London that, while he had "considerable sympathy" for Mr Monro, as the law stood, he had no hope of reclaiming the money because it was well past the one-year time limit for amending payments.See the full content of this document
