TWO Victoria Crosses won by heroic Scots for acts of valour almost a century apart yesterday fetched a total of more than GBP 500,000 when they went under the hammer at auction.

Remarkably, the medals, bought by different anonymous collectors, fetched exactly the same price - GBP 252,000 - at the specialist auction.
