MORE than 600 patients and staff at the two main hospitals in Tayside are to be offered screening for tuberculosis after a patient and a healthcare worker were found to have contracted the potentially fatal disease.

The patient, diagnosed with TB, had been admitted to a number of medical wards at Perth Royal Infirmary over the past six months. The healthcare worker is a member of staff in two of the wards at Dundee's Ninewells Hospital.
