ONE of Scotland's oldest construction firms, Loanhead-based Peter Walker Group, has collapsed into receivership and laid off practically its entire workforce with immediate effect.

The shock announcement comes just five years after the business - which traces its roots back to 1879 and has a satellite business in Glasgow, Gyplok - was bought in its entirety in a management buy- out, led by its current managing director Alastair McCarry.
