WORK on the final GBP 12 million restoration stage of Edinburgh's leading concert hall will be conducted by the company behind the Playfair project, The Scotsman can reveal.

The long-awaited second phase of a major overhaul for the Usher Hall begins in January after council officials put together a GBP 5.3 million rescue package to fill a shortfall. Heery, the construction management company that worked on the GBP 30 million Playfair project to refurbish the Royal Scottish Academy on the Mound and give it an underground link with the National Gallery of Scotland, will join the project managers, Bovis Lend Lease, and LDN Architects.
