IT WAS, in case you hadn't noticed, a bad weekend for Hearts, dumped out of the Scottish Cup by Celtic, and shamed by those fans at the Hampden semi-final who booed the minute's silence in memory of the Pope. But it was also, perhaps more importantly, a bad weekend for Scottish football, and indeed for Scottish society as a whole.
In the rush to condemn those Hearts supporters who marred Sunday's tribute, many commentators missed, or deliberately omitted to mention, two salient points.
