Pottery Piglets Break Record

WEMYSS Ware, the hand-painted pottery famous for its grinning cats and fat pigs, set a world record yesterday, when a Scottish collector paid almost GBP 70,000 for two pieces at Sotheby's Gleneagles sale.

Two sleeping piglets produced by the Fife pottery Heron & Son went for GBP 34,800 each, nearly twice the previous record and three and a half times their upper pre-sale estimate.
