Summary
I don't know whether to feel happy or sorry for this spring's expectant mothers. Smocks, with gathers and tucks just above the bust: loose, airy and brilliant for early disguise. It's been a while since a fashion look was so obliging to the spotlight-averse mum-to-be - the irony being, of course, as the expectant of the 1960s and 1970s have been tirelessly pointing out for years: pregnancy and smocks were always a killer combination.
The problem is not so much the bump itself as the bust, and for two contradictory reasons: a) the last thing a bona fide D cup needs is a ruffle to give it the illusion of being three times bigger; and b) for some busts, it's the first time they've ever made it to a D - they should be allowed to sport themselves in public, without fear of unsexy cover-ups.See the full content of this document
