GRIFF Rhys Jones had better prepare himself for a fight. The comic is about to launch BBC2's latest series of Restoration, wherein TV viewers vote to save their favourite neglected building, on a list of nominated structures, from further dereliction or even total destruction. Looking at the public feeling aroused by the three Scottish entries nominated for this year's series, the competition may be fierce.

This year the heritage reality show is called Restoration Village, and is specifically aimed at sustaining and re-building rural communities, by bringing underused public buildings back to life in a way that engages local people. It's a challenge that is already close to the heart of many in Scotland, as more and more rural people gravitate towards our larger towns and cities, where there are better facilities.
