A MOTHER broke down in tears in the public gallery of the High Court in Glasgow yesterday after the case against the man accused of murdering her prostitute daughter was found not proven by a majority verdict.

Alice Wilson, 54, whose daughter Jacqui Gallagher was murdered eight years ago, had to be comforted by relatives after the verdict on George Johnstone, 43, from Erskine, Renfrewshire, who had been accused of bludgeoning the 26-year-old to death and dumping her body in a lay-by in Bowling, near Dumbarton.
