Public Sector 'Sickies' Grow

Summary


CIVIL servants and other public-sector staff take an average of ten sick days each year, costing the taxpayer GBP 386 million, it was revealed yesterday.

A government study showed that average absenteeism in the public sector has risen from 9.8 days in 2002 to 10 days last year. The private-sector average is seven days.
