IT SOMETIMES seems we are contractually obliged to proclaim after each Ryder Cup event that it was staged in the best ever atmosphere, but yesterday, amid bedlam and deep, deep emotion, it was hard to disagree, just as it was difficult to prevent tears welling up in eyes as Darren Clarke's victory over Zach Johnson helped make it all a formality.
