INTO Africa again, as the BBC World Service, for the "Africa Lives" season, runs in counterpoint to the G8 summit with a two- week New Africa season. Starting today, it looks at cultural and political trends on the continent, highlighting previously overlooked stories and canvassing young Africans for their opinions on the future.
World Service current affairs programmes normally heard only in Africa will be broadcast on the BBC's UK network, connecting UK regional stations with live audiences in Africa in Community Conversations (Monday-Friday, 7pm). Other New Africa specials include Everywoman (Tuesday, 10.30am, World Service), which profiles Congestina Achieng, known as "Hands of Stone", the first African woman to win an international boxing title.
