OVER three years after playing his last game of competitive football for Everton against Bradford City, Richard Gough has finally returned to the game as manager of struggling Premierleague side Livingston.

While eyebrows have been raised at the length of time the former Scotland skipper spent away from football, Gough yesterday declared it to have been the best thing he has ever done. He passed the sabbatical in San Diego with his two youngest children, a break he felt he deserved after 20 years in professional football and with his marriage to wife Fiona coming to an end.
