Summary
SHARES in London spun backwards yesterday, undermined mainly by telecoms and insurers. Retailers continued to cast a shadow as the British Retail Consortium claimed the high street had suffered its worst Christmas in ten years and supermarkets group Morrison fell 5.6 per cent, or 12p, to 203.5p on news of dramatically slowing sales growth over Christmas.
Mobile phone group Vodafone fell 1p to 142.5p after new customer numbers in Japan missed even some lowered market forecasts. The news deepened concerns over Vodafone's performance in Japan, where it trails well behind other players in the 3G market.See the full content of this document
