FATAL accident inquiries should be manned by specialist procurators fiscal to help ease delays and anxiety for relatives, according to a senior sheriff.

Investigations into accidental deaths should also take priority over virtually all of the current cases heard in sheriff courts, Sheriff Frank Crowe said in a submission to an ongoing review of the way the inquiries are run.
