SCOTTISH & Newcastle has announced a change to its reporting structure, which some took as a possible leadership contest for the Edinburgh-based brewery.
S&N said its current UK chairman and managing director, John Dunsmore, would take on the additional responsibilities as managing director in western Europe. The 48-year-old will now be responsibile for the UK, France, Portugal, Finland, Belgium, Greece and the European Venture Markets business. Meanwhile John Nicolson, the current chairman for greater Europe and the USA, will relinquish his role as managing director of western European markets, but will take over responsibility of S&N joint ventures throughout Asia. The 54- year-old is now managing director for eastern Europe, Asia and USA, with responsibility for BBH and India, China and Vietnam.
