SAINSBURY'S yesterday set the bar for the supermarkets' festive trading performance amid last month's big freeze, disclosing like'for'like sales up 3.6 per cent as it shrugged off the impact of the snow.
Justin King, chief executive, said it was the group's best'ever Christmas and, regarding a flurry of general retailers that have blamed the weather for lacklustre sales in the period, added: "Those who have done better have coped better with the snow."See the full content of this document
