MORE than 4,000 jobs were saved in Scotland yesterday as Rolls- Royce ditched proposals to uproot its aero engine repair business to Eastern Europe - instead choosing to invest GBP 45 million in a new facility in East Kilbride.
Rolls has run an engine repair and overhaul plant in East Kilbride since 1953, but negotiations began last year to move from the current site to a purpose-built, state-of-the-art replacement. The factory employs about 1,100 engineering staff, with a further 3,000 supply jobs in supporting industries.See the full content of this document
