BUSINESS leaders yesterday launched a stinging attack on the state of Scotland's education system, claiming it contained "evident weaknesses" which forced companies to spend millions of pounds on improving school-leavers' numeracy and literacy.

The CBI in Scotland used the launch of its pre-election manifesto to criticise standards in the country's schools and to warn that the economy would suffer unless changes were made.
