SCOTTISH Enterprise yesterday removed its chief financial officer and stripped him of his seat on the board - then handed him another job within the organisation, on the same pay and benefits.

A month after the troubled agency was roundly slammed by the government for accounting failures that led to its much-publicised GBP 34 million overspend, Iain Carmichael - an accountant and former head of Scottish Enterprise Lanarkshire - will become senior director, efficiency and open government, on exactly the same GBP 110,000 salary.
