SCOTTISH engineering companies have recorded a surprise increase in orders and output in the past quarter, prompting the sector's governing trade body to predict a rise in staffing levels in the coming year.
Figures released yesterday by Scottish Engineering, the respected industry group representing 400 diverse firms in the sector, reveal that, as well as total orders being positive for the last three months - with 38 per cent of its member companies reporting an increase - Scottish firms are now ahead in the UK optimism stakes, with 34 per cent of British firms expecting growth.See the full content of this document
