THE flagship hotel based in the former offices of The Scotsman newspaper in Edinburgh has been sold to a billionaire Saudi philanthropist for GBP 63 million.

The Scotsman hotel, whose popularity with well-heeled guests, diners and spa visitors failed to compensate for shaky financial foundations, is to become the "blueprint" for a new international chain owned by Mohamed Bin Issa al-Jaber, whose multinational MBI International group is valued at GBP 2 billion.
