SETANTA, the Irish TV company that holds the rights to cover the Scottish Premierleague (SPL), is believed to be in talks to add the English Premiership to its growing portfolio.

The company is understood to have teamed up with Telewest to bid for the rights, which are currently controlled by Rupert Murdoch's BSkyB. The deal expires in 2008, but there will be an auction prior to that to decide its future.
