THE death of Rinus Michels on Thursday would be felt in every corner of the footballing globe, but no-one in Scotland mourns the Dutch master's passing more than former SFA secretary Ernie Walker.

Ten years ago, Walker persuaded Michels to provide the technical and coaching expertise on his Independent Review Commission into the ills of Scottish football. The legendary coach's findings, included in the review's report published in 1997, remain relevant but are still waiting to be put into practice.
