REGARDING the Christopher Harvie controversy, I propose to offer some authoritative observations. These, apart from a few preliminary gobbets of common sense, will not address the substance of the controversial MSP's complaints about the dress sense of the nation's young people.

And here are these gobbets now. It's as obvious as the pimple on the back of your knee that Scotland's young people are the worst- dressed in Europe. And not only the young people. A frequent traveller to Europe told me he could always spot the British flight at airports because of the dowdy way the passengers dressed.
