WHEN a poll of tour professionals was conducted by Sports Illustrated recently, the response to the question, 'who is the best player in the world?' was intriguing. Vijay Singh received 50 per cent of the vote and Tiger Woods only 32 per cent. Among his peers, at any rate, Woods has shed the aura of invincibility which set the golfer apart when he won a staggering total of 17 tournaments between 1999 and 2000 including four majors.
