IMAGES of two girls playing hide-and-seek and a dog sitting on a ruined fort have been announced as the winning entries in this year's 2008 PhotoArch photography competition for primary school children.

Picked from more than 470 entrants, photographers Aurelia Houbert, seven, from St George's School in Edinburgh, and Rebecca Fyfe, ten, from Chapel of Garioch School in Aberdeenshire, were presented with their prizes by the culture minister, Mike Russell, at an awards ceremony in the Scottish Parliament. They each won a digital camera and family membership of Historic Scotland, and will see their pictures placed in an international exhibition.
