A CAR-FREE Commonwealth Games with spectators travelling by free public transport has been promised by organisers of Glasgow's bid to host the event in 2014.

However, the plans do not include any extra buses or trains - relying instead on the fact that the 12-day games coincide with the quieter school holidays.
