THE SPL last night denied it was on a crisis footing as the future of its broadcasting partner Setanta remained in doubt.

It is understood Setanta have yet to pay the latest GBP 3 million instalment of their current contract with the SPL which was due on Monday this week. The subscription-based television company have been severely damaged by the success of rivals British Sky Broadcasting in winning five of the six contracts for live coverage of the English Premier League next season.
