A MAJOR survey of Scottish football supporters has uncovered huge support for the introduction of technology to assist referees.

The Clydesdale Bank Premier League Fans Survey was published yesterday and reported that 84 per cent of supporters favoured the use of goalline technology, 80 per cent backed the use of video replays during matches and 88 per cent supported the idea of fitting referees with microphones as they do in rugby. The survey was commissioned by top-league sponsors Clydesdale Bank and canvassed the opinions of nearly one thousand fans of SPL clubs between August and October of last year.
