A CASH-STRAPPED mining company has been forced to abandon its dream of extracting gold from the hills of Scotland.

Alba Mineral Resources, a London-based mining firm, held the rights to search for the precious metal at Aberfeldy and the Ochil Hills in Perthshire, at Kilmelford in Argyllshire and Arthrath in Aberdeenshire.
