A LEADING Scottish rugby supporters association has publicly backed the current union president over British and Irish Lion Finlay Calder in tomorrow's elections.

Jim Stevenson won a three-way vote to become the new SRU president at last year's agm, beating off the incumbent George Jack and former Scotland captain Peter Brown. The Glasgow City Council employee is standing for a second term, against Calder, who has been proposed this year as an "ambassadorial" figure by Division 1 clubs, and former SRU general committee representative Jim Gracie.
