PRIVATE house sales across Scotland have become a growing trend, with one of Edinburgh's leading property companies saying it sold properties worth GBP 20 million in the first three months of the year alone.

James Whitson, head of private sales at Rettie & Co, says the market for family homes in particular is phenomenal. "We have sold in excess of GBP 20m privately and 80 per cent of the people are families moving within the EH postcode. The average property price within this figure is GBP 1.2m."
