STUDENT numbers on Heriot-Watt University textile courses could be slashed by a third after the world-renowned design school moves from Galashiels to Edinburgh, a crunch meeting will be told today.

A showdown between a deputation from the Borders and university managers was expected to be a highly charged affair as politicians and senior officials battle to keep the former Scottish College of Textiles at the Netherdale campus.
