TEMPERATURES in England and Wales soared yesterday to their highest level this year, while Scotland enjoyed typically unremarkable weather.

The Met Office said the temperature, which saw the mercury reach 31C (88F) in London compared to just 12C (54F) in Aberdeen, is set to return to more normal levels - bringing sporadic thunderstorms across the UK with it.
