Greene King's Scottish operation Belhaven put in a record performance in the latest trading year as its pubs and brewing parent unveiled plans to boost the size of its core pub restaurant estate by a quarter, including further acquisitions north of the Border.

Belhaven, which brews Belhaven Best, Scotland's leading ale, posted operating profits up 8.3 per cent at GBP32.7m (GBP30.2m) on revenues 11.7 per cent higher at GBP152m (GBP136m).
