HERIOT-Watt University has strongly denied accusations that it covered up plans to move the internationally acclaimed School of Textiles and Design from the Borders to Edinburgh.

A "strictly confidential" university report obtained by The Scotsman suggests senior staff at Heriot-Watt decided more than six weeks ago that relocation of the textile school and its 485 students from Galashiels was the preferred option.
