WITH the obvious exception of some rural French pub leagues, it's not often you see a bunch of garlic in the technical area at a football match. So, midway through the first half of Hapoel Tel Aviv's home tie against Rangers, when we were given a close-up of some of the stuff on top of the home dugout, it was reasonable to expect a word or two of explanation from the BBC Scotland commentary team.
Alas, it went unmentioned, perhaps unnoticed, by Paul Mitchell and Ian McCall. Preoccupied with topical Valentine's Day references to passion and romance, they may simply have felt it beneath their dignity to hypothesise on the reasons for the reeking weed's appearance.See the full content of this document
