IT has taken eight years, but weightlifter Tommy Yule feels he has at last put to rest his regret over what should have been the highlight of his sporting career.

In 1998, Yule won three silver medals at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur. But the vagaries of the Commonwealth Games eligibility rules in the 1990s meant that the Johannesburg-born Yule could only compete for England in the Games eight years ago, despite wanting to represent Scotland, the land of his parents' birth. To highlight the farce of the eligibility criteria of the time, Yule's twin brother Stuart also took part in the weightlifting competition at the Kuala Lumpur Games - for Scotland.
